ECOLOGY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ARE AT THE HEART OF THE RENNES SCHOOL OF BUSINESS GREEN MARATHON !
THE ORGANISING TEAM CREATED THE MARATHON WITH A SINCERE COMMITMENT TO MINIMISING THE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT.
It's not just a few responsible actions, but an organisation and decisions based on ecological thinking. Every year, we try to reduce our impact on the environment even further through the many measures we put in place to enable runners to take part in the races while doing their bit for the planet.
OUR ACTIONS ARE DIVIDED INTO 4 MAIN CATEGORIES :
RAISING AWARENESS
We're trying to raise awareness among runners and the people of Rennes of the importance of the environment and the good things they can do
- By linking registrations to the individual signing of a charter of « good ecological conduct »
- Raising awareness of the need to use public transport
- Raising awareness of waste sorting
- By encouraging runners, to plant trees around the world
- By developing plogging
REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT DUE TO TRANSPORT
With this new format, we are considerably reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by favouring public transport
- By eliminating all cars, this marathon is 100% urban
- By setting up relay points for The Marathon Duo and Marathon Relais at metro stations
- Favouring rail travel with reduced-price TER and TGV Paris-Rennes tickets
- By providing a free car-sharing service for athletes
REDUCING AND RECYCLING WASTE
Every year, we improve our consumption and waste creation by
- By limiting the use of disposable materials: washable cups, messages sent to runners asking them to bring their own reusable containers (no distribution of small water bottles to runners)
- By collecting and sorting waste along the route with the "waste sorting ambassadors".
- By recycling the chips in the bibs with our partner Clikeco
- Giving a second life to sports equipment with l'association Nio Far - On est ensemble
- Eliminating disposable changing bags
- Organising plogging sessions to collect rubbish
- Reinforcing eco-communication: reusing signage, communicating by newsletter/email and via the website in order to go 100% digital, etc.
- By not distributing Yves Roche Women's shirts
- By distributing natural and responsible gifts for the participants in the Yves Roche Women's
RESPONSIBLE REFUELLING
The race is no exception, and we have also provided responsible refreshments for the runners
- Using local water supplies
- By distributing Meltonic organic and natural sports nutrition products
- By ordering the right number of products and avoiding wastage thanks to the results of previous editions
- By distributing products in bulk and limiting the use of disposable containers
- By distributing surplus orders to Restos du Cœur
- By using reusable cups
